This warbler, framed by a sunset over mountains, has a decidedly ukiyo-e flair. The background of this piece is from Kuniyoshi’s “Swimmer and Pleasureboat.” Kuniyoshi’s work inspired me to layer multiple, semi-transparent color gradients to create a dramatic sense of distance in the background.
