This woodblock print illustrates a pair of mourning doves enjoying a winter day. One bird looks down at its companion, who is covered in snow. Fresh powder falling from branches as birds came and went inspired the idea.
The paper is 12 x 9 inches. Here is a link to our favorite picture frame.
Ink is applied to a hand-carved wooden block.
And pressed onto Japanese Moonpeach paper.
A registration system ensures precise alignment when layering colors in a woodblock print. Snow Flurry required six passes through the press; the layers are shown here.
